Southwest Chili

From game day to the chili cookoff, this chili recipe will score big any time of year.

Southwest Chili

Ingredients:

2 lbs. lean ground beef

2 cups chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 (28-oz.) cans tomatoes

2 (15-oz.) cans pinto beans, rinsed and drained

1 (8-oz.) can tomato sauce

1 (4-oz.) can chopped green chilies

2 tablespoons chili powder

2 teaspoons cumin

1 teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon ground red pepper

Sour cream (optional)

Chopped green onions (optional)

Method:

In a 4-quart oval (or similar) casserole, place beef, onion and garlic.

Place dish on glass tray.

Microwave on high (10) for 5 to 7 minutes until meat is browned, stirring twice to crumble beef.

Drain well.

Add tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, chilies, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper to meat mixture; stir to combine.

Cover.

Cook according to your Advantium model's cooking settings or until hot and bubbly.

Ladle into bowls and top with sour cream and onions, if desired.
