Iced Sugar Cookies
2-3 Dozen Cookies
Ingredients:
Sugar Cookie:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Icing:
1 cup powder sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 tablespoon water
Method:
Sugar Cookie:
Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth.
Mix in salt and baking powder.
Mix in flour.
Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Roll dough 1/8" thick, using a dusting of flour as you roll.
Place cookie cutouts on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes.
Icing:
Mix powder sugar, vanilla and water.
Add coloring to desired shade.
